Match report On a belter of a day at St Sebs, the Judge won the toss and got padded up. A tough start for him and Mike Brundish saw the score creep along before the runs started to flow more freely. With 50+ partnerships for the first 3 wickets, the score was accumulating nicely and Mike started to get into his work with imperious drives, slog sweeps and even and all run four. Perhaps assisted by some 'generous' fielding, he kept going and reached a superb ton before falling, heroically trying to come back for a second on 115. A great knock on a hot day. Ably assisted by Siv they kept the run rate going and an explosive volley from Chris at the end left us sitting pretty at 256-7 off our 40 overs.

The inspirational team talk focused on putting the game to bed in the first 8 overs. No-one listened and catches were dropped in 1st, 3rd and 5th overs all off the bowling of poor Dylan who resorted to trying to soften up the batsman with a string of beamers. With Langley going at 10 an over and our target looking gettable, the skipper turned to AWR who bowled a really good spell of nagging line and length and wickets started to tumble. Around drinks the game hung in the balance and we hoped we could choke the run rate and secure the win. But with every wicket, Langley produced another batsman who could hit it even further and despite Siv's excellent spell a few big overs resulted in the total being chased down with 7 balls to spare. Highlights of course Mikey's ton and Siv was unlucky not to get more than 3 wickets, the DRS system at St Sebs now featuring in Siv's wishlist for the club. Dylan fielded superbly with a key direct hit run out and everyone kept their heads up. Credit to JC for getting the ground into such good nick. 500 runs on a day at St Sebs doesn't happen often.
