Crows waltz to victory at Waltham

24 Jul 2010

A fine team effort saw Crows defeat Waltham St. Lawrence by a whopping 101 runs at their picturesque ground.

The victory was all the more remarkable as, having won the toss and elected to bat, Crows slumped to 65 for 6. But a fine partnership of 101 between the Red Barron (building on his record breaking knock last Sunday to post a terrific 82) and Danny Boy (35) saw Crows get up to a very respectable total of 180 on a slightly two-paced pitch.

Waltham got off to a good start in their run chase, until Fluffer made good ground to take a sharp catch, giving Jon Cole a deserved wicket. At the other end, Azza rolled back the years with a vintage display of miserly bowling. After taking four wickets each, John and Azza stepped back to allow Dan to wrap the match up with a sensational double wicket maiden.
