Dear All,
Due to the abysmal weather encountered in the Crowthorne metropolitan area this week, the wickets at Derby Field are waterlogged, to an extent that the groundstaff are unable to get onto the field to prepare a wicket. As such ,even if the weather improves remarkably in the next 48 hours, the pitches would be dangerous, unprepared and therefore unplayable.
So it has left us with no option than to cancel the 2010 Adrian Chatters 6-a-side Tournament. L
This is hugely disappointing for Crowthorne Cricket Club as immense effort and planning has gone in once again to ensure that the event is a huge success and a fitting tribute to Adrian. As a club, we are massively committed to continuing the 6-a-side Tournament in Adrian’s memory and vow to deliver a successful event in 2011.
Thanks to everyone who has contributed in organizing this event and to all those who have donated things, organized bouncy castles, given up their time etc etc. Unfortunately we don’t have anyone at the club who can control the weather! (We’re working on that though)
Also thanks to our friends at Broadmoor Ducks CC, Mortimer West End CC, Crown Wood CC and Thames Valley Ramblers CC for once again supporting this event. Also to all the Old Crows who were due to come out of retirement to play in the 6-a-side. All of you are of course invited back in 2011 and details will be circulated before the end of this year.
Lastly but by no means least, a huge thanks to Steve Blosse and his team at Wellington College for their support in 2010, not only for the 6-a-side but also in generally helping to move our club forwards. We look forward to continuing our relationship in 2011 and beyond. Also to Groundsman Bryan Evans for providing us with superb pitches all season at New Ground and Derby.
In the meantime if anyone wants a bouncy castle and 200 Burgers at their house on Sunday, let me know! ;-)
