Crowthorne & Crown Wood Cricket Club

Crows began their 2010 Twenty20 Campaign with a win over Wellington College Staff in Arctic conditions at Derby Field last night.

Specialist T20 skipper Nick McDonagh and his side were too strong for a Wellington Team that included several well known faces.

Steve Northall began proceedings by uprooting the off-stump of opener Daniel Matthews. But the bowling star was James Carson Yeung. Bowling his first spell for the club he returned figures of 2-0-9-2, including trapping our very own Dean Timms LBW for 2.

Northall then starred with the bat, cruising to 25 before retiring. Nick McDonagh steered the Crows towards the victory target before Pete Clarke and Xavier Sheppardo sealed the victory.

Players from both teams (and a few cheeky supporters) headed for a boozy BBQ at the Social Club in the college. Burgers and Sausages galore, which the Crows gracefully helped to consume. Carson again the star of the show, polishing off a Smith-Gander-esque amout of food.

A fun time was had by all.
