Crowthorne & Crown Wood Cricket Club News story

NEW SEASON - Call to Arms! (Club setup days..)

27 Mar 2022

Dear all,

I hope you are all well and raring to go for the new Cricket season! With the club taking possession of St Sebs from 1st April, we have a couple of weeks to get the site and pavilion ready for a summer of cricket for our members (Men, Women and Youth sections).

In order to be ready, as ever, we will need volunteers to come to the club over the next 2 weekends at your convenience to help out. It is hoped that most, if not all members from all sections, can spare at least an hour or 2 over this period to make our home look and feel as great as possible before the season starts.

To give you an idea of what needs to be done, here is a list (not exhaustive) of the general work that is needed inside and out. Hopefully there is something for everyone of all ages to turn their hands to….

As ever, our aim is to “Make the club the best it possibly can be” which means a pristine site and welcoming pavilion.

  1. Empty Store cupboards and sort items.
  2. Equipment “stock take”
  3. Equipment sorting

  11. Kitchen cupboards sort out
  12. Technology check (Laptops/scoreboard/Ipads etc)

If you have any suggestion or ideas of anything else you think we could do to enhance the club, please let me know! 😊\

Finally, as in previous years, we invite anyone who has anything that might be of use to the club that they no longer need, to consider donating it. You may have seen my message about laptops, ipads etc. But even things like kitchen items, boxes, stepladders can all be put to good use and saves the club outlaying on these things.

Also if anyone feels like donating any items for the bar, this has proven a huge success in the past as a donated bottle of something can turn into a big profit over the bar...  Even a dusty bottle from the back of the cupboard is welcome for kangaroo court purposes.

Last year we had an incredible turn out and I hope people can dig deep and find a bit of spare time to help your club this year, too. If you cannot make it on any of the above days due to other commitments, please don't worry, there will be plenty of opportunity throughout the summer to get involved ;-)

Thanks,

Dan
