Rich Hester's Cricket Pitch Half Marathon - in aid of NHS

21 Apr 2020

Dear Members (new and old),

We hope you are all well and keeping you and your families safe.

We'd like to share with you some news of our former Sunday Captain and long serving player, Rich Hester's incredible "Half Marathon with a difference".

Despite there not being much prospect currently of any real cricket, Rich has come up with an idea that allows him to dress in his cricket gear for a few hours anyway....

In these difficult times for us all it would be great if we could help him raise some funds for our fantastic NHS. Any donation, however big or small will no doubt spur Rich on in this very tough challenge.  Read his story below....

At the time of writing, over £800 has been pledged. It would be great if we could help push over and above the magical £1000 mark.

Best wishes and keep safe,

CCWCC

Rich's Story

NHS staff and volunteers are doing amazing work right now in caring for COVID-19 patients. Together, let's show our respect and gratitude as they work tirelessly in the face of the virus. It's our turn to make sure we look after them, to ensure they can keep doing their vital work.

On Friday 8th May at 11am I will be running a half marathon by doing shuttles on a marked out cricket pitch (22 yards) in my street (whilst maintaining social distancing). The half marathon will involve running approximately 1,050 lengths of a cricket pitch and will be measured using my GPS. I am particularly missing the cricket season with Crowthorne and Crown Wood CC so will be wearing and carrying full cricket gear including batting pads, gloves and batI am hoping to run this in around 2h 30m.

Please forward this to friends and family and donate whatever you can to support our NHS .

Thanks, Rich.
