Crowthorne’s 3rd XI produced one of their most spirited performances of the season, only to be edged out by Datchet 4s in a nail-biting finish. After posting a competitive 211-9, the Crows were left stunned as Datchet chased it down with four wickets and four balls to spare.
Batting first, Crowthorne were led by a majestic 68 from Ateeq Mirza, who anchored the innings with patience and poise. He shared a vital 85-run stand with Jay Blaney, who blazed 59 off 56 balls, including six fours and three sixes. Nikunj Mehta (16), Adam Mansfield (20), and Ajay Patidar (7) added late momentum, while extras (24) kept the scoreboard ticking.
Datchet’s chase was powered by Aun Altaf’s fluent 62 and David Dhanraj’s explosive 35 off 21 balls. Jay Blaney (3-30) was the pick of the bowlers, removing both set batters and keeping the Crows in the hunt. Avinash Singh struck early and bowled with venom, finishing with 1-34, while Aran Long and Rahul Tomar chipped in with wickets.
With the game on a knife-edge, Milan Malindi (20*) and Muneeb Khan (26*) held their nerve, guiding Datchet home in the 36th over.
