Match report A Merry Battle on the Green

Forsooth, on a bright Sunday morn’, our merry band of Crowthorne and Crownwood lads did gather to do battle with the haughty Windsor Royals. The green was as fair as Maid Marian’s eyes, and the sun shone as warm as a hearth on a winter’s night. We took to the wicket first, and though our blades met the ball with a mighty crack, those Windsor knaves were stout defenders. Yet, with hearts as bold as lions, we managed to scrape together a score that would hopefully be their undoing.

When the Royals took their turn at bat, we gripped our bows with eager hands, hoping to send their wickets flying. And fly they did, thanks to the mighty arm of our own Dylan Applin. He felled six of their knaves, leaving them as bewildered as a fox caught in a henhouse. Though the enemy fought bravely, the day belonged to us. And so, with laughter and ale, we celebrated our victory, a triumph as sweet as honey.

Verily, it was a day to be remembered, and Dylan Applin’s feat with the ball shall be sung in taverns throughout the land.
