In a match that swung like a pendulum, Crowthorne’s 3rd XI came agonisingly close to pulling off a memorable chase against Wargrave 4s, falling just 11 runs short in a high-octane contest.
Wargrave posted 184 all out, built around a classy 64 from John Beale and a late surge from Hardik Dhallam (43*). Adam Malone led the Crows’ bowling with 3-29, supported by Alex Dennet (2-18) and a wicket apiece for five other bowlers — a true team effort.
The chase was bold and full of intent. Jai Parhar (30), Simon Sheppardt (33), and Jake Gibbings (28 off just 10 balls) kept the scoreboard ticking, while Ajay Patidar’s 15 and Aran Long’s unbeaten 3 gave hope late on. But Sam Beale’s 4-35 and Advik Gupta’s 3-42 proved decisive, and the Crows were bowled out for 173 in 34.3 overs.
