Crowthorne’s 3rd XI kicked off their 2025 campaign with a bruising encounter at Home Park, falling just short in a low-scoring thriller against Datchet 4s. After being inserted on a green-top, the Crows scrapped their way to 122 all out, with Prakash Singh (24), Deepak Ambotkar (23), and Jay Blaney (18) showing grit against a disciplined attack led by Ed Masters (3-18) and Sufiyan R (2-28).
Despite the modest total, Crowthorne’s bowlers came out breathing fire. Avinash Singh struck twice early, removing both openers to leave Datchet wobbling at 30-3. Adam Malone and Jay Blaney chipped in with a wicket apiece, and at 45-4, the game was in the balance. But Muneeb Khan’s blistering 54* off 28 balls turned the tide, launching Datchet to victory in just 20.1 overs.
Crowthorne’s fielding was sharp, with two catches for Simon Sheppard and a diving grab from Prakash Singh, but the extras column (11 wides, 1 no-ball) proved costly in a game of fine margins.
