Match report COOL HAND PUKE

Colonel Cluett keeps calm and carries on for Crows following boozy night out that leaves him vomiting in the street.

Beloved teacher and family man Ant Cluett, 34, had a rollercoaster of a 24 hours, taking 5 wickets and top-scoring with 43 runs just hours after shameful pictures emerged of his drunken debauchery the previous night. Cluett, who this reporter sensationally revealed earlier this season had also falsified his military service to get a discount at his local barbers, sees his clean image in tatters after his booze-fueled antics. One of his teammates, legendary nice guy Ravi Godbole, 2051, was quick to condemn his former captain: "I always thought he was putting it on. There was something not quite right about him claiming not to drink, and to be spending all that time raising his family rather than playing cricket and golf every week. And now we all know the truth."

The match itself also saw helpful contributions from almost all of the Crows' batsmen, with only Barron and Brundish missing out, both succumbing first ball to leave their places in the side very much in question. Former Crows Chairman Dan Partridge, 44, refused to be drawn on whether time was up for the duo, saying, "Richard Barron is a close personal friend of mine, and a phenomenal batsman. He will rediscover his form. Oh, and Brundish is alright."

After Crows posted 214-7 from their 40 overs, a dehydrated and disheveled Colonel Cluett was given a chance by his captain and brother Jeff, 33, to earn redemption on the pitch for his behaviour off it, taking 5 wickets to help CCWCC bowl out Ibis for just 157. After the game the skipper defended his embattled sibling: "Ant can do whatever he wants on a Friday night, as long as he performs like that every week. You should be focusing on what a fantastic team performance this was with bat, ball and in the field, not on the other nonsense."

The Colonel himself was unavailable for comment immediately after the game, but later released this short statement: "I am the best player at this club. Fact. I am now leading the bowling prize, again, and have scored more runs than anyone else for the club this season. Again. This silly story shouldn't affect people's decision on who to vote for for Player of the Year. It should clearly be me. If you vote for anyone else you need your head checking."

The win was Crows' 6th in their last 7 games, and takes the title race to the last game of the season next Saturday. Crows need old rivals Welford Park to do them a favour against Shinfield, needing to win themselves against Woodcote who controversially beat them earlier this season with a dubious use of the loan system. However it plays out on the final day, the Crows can be proud of their efforts this season, having already won the most games in a single season since the club was formed in 2014.
