Crowthorne & Crown Wood Cricket Club Sunday 1st XI v Friends XI on Sun 12 May 2019 at 1:30 pm
Crowthorne & Crown Wood Cricket Club Lost by 28 runs
Match report
The One when court was in session.
Crows lose thriller against Friends XI.
So we turned up at St.sebs
On a glorious Sundayyyyy (clap clap clap clap)
In typical Sunday fashion
People were running laaaaaate
Eventually we got to the toss
They called heads the coin came down
And the crows loooooost
And
We went to field fiiiiirst
And straight from the word go
They had a bloodthiiiirst
The run rate wasn't low
We got hit for a four orrrrr twoooo
In fact it was a feeeeeewwwwwwwwwwww.
Crows lost their second fixture of the season in a thrilling match against the Friends XI.
Friends XI won the toss and elected to bat first without a moment's hesitation in the 35 a side fixture.
Also with the rule of "leg side wides" brought into effect before the game began, this was set up to be a thriller form the get go.
Brundish decided to lead the attack with The Spanish Archer L-Bo, The skipper struggled with keeping the length consistent. Despite only going for 28.
L-Bo struck in his second over bowling Nabeel uprooting his leg stump, Raza at 3 and opener A.F motored on with 68 partnership in quick time, once L-Bo finished his overs, "The Badman" entered the Fray.
Emes clean up the opener A.F in his first over and with now G-force at the other end in good bowling form could this be the start of a magical period of play?Â
With runs scored regularly, the skipper threw the ball to Jules "The Judge" O'Loughlin for his expertise in death bowling. And it paid off as he was on a hat trick after his first two balls and a wicket with his fourth. Three wickets in the first over, hell of a start.
As a couple more wickets fell the inbings drew to a close with Friends XI posting 205 off their 35 overs, crows had a it all to do.
Safe to say it went slightly wrong at the Beginning as James and Jules started of promisingly however both falling not far from each other after promising starts.
Crows the collapsed to 44/6 😳 in just 29 minutes after the first wicket fell, out strode the Captain with it all to do.
The Captain began the resistance with a decent partnerships with C.Emes (39) and G.Pun (50) respectively with the skipper and Spare Emes at the death and 177/9 and a comeback of epic proportions looking possible. The Captain had a lapse in concentration and a catastrophic run out and the game was done.
Brundish spoke to the press after the game and said "it's a bitter pill to swallow losing like that, the top order struggled and we paid the price. we can only learn from it and hope to bounce back from this."
Brundish was then asked about what happend with the run out, he the refused to answer and walked away not particularly happy.
