Farnham Royal v Crowthorne & Crown Wood Cricket Club Sunday 1st XI on Sun 16 Jun 2019 at 13:30
Crowthorne & Crown Wood Cricket Club Lost by 3 wickets
Match report
The father's Day disaster
Sunday crows lose at Farnham Royal.
On another great day for cricket crows travelled to Farnham Royal, Brundish won the toss and elected to Bat on a good track.
The Judge and Chris Emes led the attack and the partnership was quickly ended when Emes was cleaned up second ball with and ugly swipe across the line.
Saviour came in at 3 and Farnham turned the screw early as saviour was bowled by the Captain Quelch.
DC entered the arena looking like he's finally found some form and began to rebuild with Judge as the put on 39 before Judge was given out with a slightly looking Dubious LBW decision from the boundary.
Papa Emes hung around for what could be a record of 29 deliveries but unfortunately was able to trouble the scorers, DC continued the charge along with Duchess J sussex with also an almighty six the ended up in someone's garden.
DC hit 50 (standard) but the got trapped LBW the very next ball, George Tims fell two balls later.
With 3 ducks already on the card and with he score at 102/6 things were looking shaky. Skip you're up.
Brundish and Duchess looked to push the rate on with a run a ball partnership before the Captain got bowled by a low keeping ball for 27. P Emes fell just two balls later and Duchess not long after, 140/9. Uh oh.
However, a secret weapon at 11 in C.Allwright who was injured and elected to go 11, you know what they say. Never corner a wounded animal.
Chris and O-Bo with a 44 last wicket stand with a herculean effort by an injured Chris and some brilliant supporting work by O-Bo got the visitors to 184-9 off 40 overs.
Crows stuck early with 3 quick wickets in the opening 5 overs. Before Jackson and Agrawal rebuilt with a 76 partnership in 13 overs saviour got the breakthrough and bowled Jackson however another resistance and another big partnership with some fielding left to be desired as another 13 overs rolled past and another 66 partnership before Agrawal was run out. With another two quick wickets it was set for a decent finish but crows were not up to par in the field and too many mistakes early on. Farnham breezed across the line for a 3 wicket win with just shy of 5 overs to spare.
Brundish spoke to the press after the game.
" Tough day today, fielding wasn't up to the standard we aim for and sometimes you need some luck when it's that way. And nothing just went to hand (apart from Chris Allwright who dropped an absolute sitter at slip) 😂 but congrats to Farnham they played well and deserved the win"
"We will reflect on this and look to improve for the next fixture."
