Match report A thrilling game at Yateley Cricket Club hosted a local derby between Crowthorne & Crown Wood and Bracknell. It was a game which saw two Crows youth players step up to the adult game for the first time, Will Clarke and Joe Morton. The latter then ended up with a stumping, a run out and scoring 22! The game went right down to the wire with Joe needing to hit a six off the last ball to win the game! Talk about a baptism of fire!

The setting was the reserve pitch down at Yateley cricket club, yet the venue saw a thrillingly close game to watch as the Crows 3rd XI chased down Bracknell’s target of 197. Several times it seemed the game was lost, but the Crows came back into contention with a quick fire 48 from Ajay. Christopher Foxon also stayed in for a while to prevent a collapse. A partnership of 99 was established before the Crows then decided to go into attack mode to chase down the total! Big mistake! Instead of picking off one's or two's Foxy was then bowled on the very next ball for 22 and Ajay departed soon after.

Bracknell then decided to underestimate the junior crows to their peril as Joe Morton went on to score a quick fire 22, which took the game to the last ball with a six was required. fortunately, a good delivery from Vadauath bowled Joe to seal the game in a thrilling finish.

The lesson to be learned is never give up till the end, avoid wildly attacking straight balls and do not underestimate what youth players can do!
