Match report Competitive defeat at Highmoor for 3s

JC won the toss and shocked everyone by batting. Put his pads on and strode out with AWR to open the innings (AWR subbing for Demolition Dave who picked up a football injury in cricket season, poor show that). There followed an 82 run opening stand off 20 overs, ended by AWR being bowled off bat and pad. No one else really got going and wickets fell regularly. A good fighting last wicket stand between Soumya Mishra and LBo denied MWE full bowling points and added 20 , to leave Crows 161 for 9 after their 40 overs.

After Bo's banquet had been consumed, a heavier Crows outfit set out to defend their innings total.

No luck for LBo or Avi in the opening spells . Some chances went begging and some near misses meant that MWE could wait for and punish the bad balls. Ven and AWR picked up a wicket a piece , with the former bowling his normal tight lines. JC brought himself into the attack and two quick wickets, but the damage had been done. Credit to Crows int he filed though, chasing to the boundary til the end and taking MWE to the 35th over before the winning runs were hit.
