Match report Results had been getting better, a draw two weeks ago, a great effort the week before to push a strong Harpsden team to need 40+ overs to score the runs needed. What did this week have in store.

It was a bowl first week, PSR wanted to go second in the league - a win might have done it. The Skip having been out for 6 weeks had much to prove to a team in the ascendancy.

So he did the first thing right and won the toss - we bowled first …

Chandran and Godbole to the front please. 19 for the first wicket- Godbole!, Haji keeping every one guessing with his juggler impersonations before taking a bow. Sin, not to be outdone, followed up with a couple in two consecutive overs (Barrymore taking a sharp one in the slips and Outram reaching for one at Mid-Off) - 27 for 3. Could this be the day! 7 overs went by, no runs but no wicket … nothing happing .. bowling change. Mohammed to the fray, give it two balls to see what fielding changes might be needed... BAM! 2 balls a wicket! Happy? Yup! (everyone is) to the crease the opposition Skipper fresh off a 150 from the previous week and keeping clear of Godbole (doh he's just come off!). New bowler. Kangaroo Joe ...,left hander bowled - another wicket - 48 for 5. looking good. Fitz behind the wicket keeping up with the variable bounce takes a couple. PSR skip in fine form running out of partners - 7 for 92 he's not getting 150 this week!!. Attacking field in place Cartledge goes to silly mid-on(ish). Godbole back in the attack. He's gone - clutched by Cartledge, the tail is open.115 for 8. 8 runs (and 7 overs) later Crows are going to bat - one each for Mo and Ravi - 123 to chase down - 60 overs to do it - surely it will be. (fingers, toes, arms, legs and anything else crossed).



Crows go out to bat. The skip leading from the front (well in at 2 :) ). Ganes taking first blood - first scoring shot 4. It was hard going - lots of late inswing with some variable bounce - tough work!! - looking good but alas a ball that lifted and left him with a faint edge to first slip - Ganes trudged back, 15/1 not quite how it has been planned - run rate not an issue be there at the end type of stuff. DC to the crease, averaging 100+ on Sundays (ptewww) but two 40 s in his last two games. DC looking good, some lively off drives when the balls presented themselves. Beaten by a cracker - inswing and then away off the pitch - bowled :( - 14runs in 11 overs that must be a record for DC. Crows wobbling on 46/2 off 19 (well not really!).

Joey "i'm going to be there at the end" Davies to the crease. And that was that. Outram and Davies won 9-0. (we were winners every 10 runs we got). It may have taken another 21 overs to knock off the runs but we did it! (and a few vociferous appeals along the way). Outram finished on 57 and Davies on 40. Roll-on next week - where do we go from here!!
