Match report RECORD-BREAKING RAVI INSPIRES IMPORTANT CROWS WIN

On a blowy day in Woodcote
The sun was set fair,
Outram back from the toss-up,
Lost; no hint of despair.

Crows would bowl first most times,
When given the choice,
And ten men took to the field,
One short, but still in good voice.

Three overs of tripe later
Their smiles were slipping,
Just one shout of “Howzat",
Could have sworn it was clipping.

Then cometh the hour, cometh the Earl,
With a short-pitched delivery,
On hand when needed:
Cricketing midwifery.

That first blow to Crowthorne
Brought Jaffa to the party,
He loves dining on maidens,
And his feasting was hearty.

Next Shak tore in speedily,
Bright headlights to their foal,
But elsewhere was the attention:
599 wickets, only one Ravi Godbole.

The faintest of edges,
The loudest of roars,
Six-hundred wickets!
His public adores.

With Ravi and the Colonel
Turning the screw,
More wickets were inevitable,
And they both got a few.

One hundred and thirty-three,
Being all they could muster,
Left Woodcote disappointed,
Despite all their bluster.

The chase began with alacrity,
And even the Colonel
Hit a four in the first over,
Backed up by a nurdle.

In, then out, were Crooky and Shak;
A hint of a wobble,
But Mikey was promoted,
And the runs he did gobble.

Sweet fifty for the Goblet,
And Ant carrying his bat,
An eight wicket victory:
Now how about that?

But there’s only one story,
When all’s said and told,
Ravi joined the 600 club,
Man, he must be old.
