Phoenix Rugby Football Club v Crowthorne & Crown Wood Cricket Club Sunday XI on Sun 26 Jun 2016 at 2:00 pm
Crowthorne & Crown Wood Cricket Club Won by 91 runs

Match report Emes comes of age and Barrymore's Allwright as Crows keep Phoenix RFCCC in the flames.

The sunday Crows travelled to Phoenix RFCCC, lost the toss and were put into bat on a slightly damp wicket.

Sheppard fell in the first over, but that only brought the ex crown wood youth partnership of Allwright and Brundish together, who between them smashed 122 runs in 17 overs, with Barrymore in particular playing superbly, getting his 50 in 45 minutes, and his final total of 81 off only 63 balls.
With that platform in place the pressure was off the middle order, and young Chris Emes looked good for his 20, Davies classy as usual for 34 and a rejuvenated Baines hitting another quickfire 20 after his 50 last week, and when he got out in the 37th over, leaving Mackenzie stranded without facing a
ball, the total was 211 and the crows were in the box-seat.

It took Sheppard and Golding a while to get their rhythm with the ball, but they both pulled it around, with Kieran in particular looking good by the end, finishing on 2 for 27 off 7 overs. A smart run out followed by Davies, which had them 63 for 4 after 14 overs.
On came big bad Chris Emes who bowled a spell full of aggression, taking 3 wickets for 25 off his 5 overs. Patrick Golding struggled to find his length at first but also pulled it around, and by the end was almost unplayable, getting the ball past the bat numerous times and was unlucky not to take more wickets, finishing on 2 for 30. All that remained was for Damon Emes to come on and wrap things up, with the crows taking just 24 overs to win the game.

The skipper, Mackenzie, spoke to the press after the game and was full of praise for young Chris Emes, "It was great to see another youth player putting in a performance like that, it was a feisty spell which the opposition couldn't handle. It was great to see his dad take a wicket at the end too."
On Allwright's knock he was equally effusive, "Chris stepped in at the last moment to replace a player who went AWOL, and it was great to see him find some form. It was a classy knock that took the game away from the opposition right from the off. it was a really pleasing team performance," he continued, "everyone contributed and its great to win two games in a row for the first time this year."
