Match report Ramblers Rout crows Rabble in Right Royal Rumble

Mackenzie lost the toss and were put into field on a decent batting wicket, under overcast skies.

A very tight opening 16 overs from Brundish and the superb K Golding (2 for 21 off 8) saw the Ramblers 52 for 2 and in trouble, but the 1st change bowlers went for some tap, and though Baines (2 for 24 off 6) tried manfully to hold things together, and Luke Taylor, Damon and Chris Emes all chipped in with a wicket ,the ramblers pushed on to 204 for 8 from the 40 overs, which always looked a little better than par and was a great effort after their slow start.

The Crows innings started well, with Jules(35)looking in good nick again, but wickets kept falling and they were 79 for 3 at drinks. Cartledge and Mackenzie plugged away against good bowling and looked to be catching up, but when the skipper had a rush of blood to the head and ran himself out with a suicidal single(after a direct hit from side on at mid wicket) they were really up against it. Brundish came in at 8 and tried to make a game of it in a good partnership with Luke Taylor, but the crows always looked about 40 runs short, and so it turned out.

A disconsolate Mackenzie spoke to the waiting reporters after the game, "I take full responsibility for the defeat. If id stayed around for a while in the middle there we could still have kept in touch. I should never have taken that single, it was criminal. O'Loughlin, Cartledge, Brundish and Golding were superb out there today and all the lads deserved more from that game." & None of the gathered press-men could really disagree with him.
