Match report Stand in skipper scores stunning success as Brundish batters and bullies bewildered boys from Woodcote.

The Crows youth shone with the ball, as Chris Emes took 3 wickets for 36 and Luke Taylor 2 wickets for 10 runs, after tight opening spells from Crinnion (8 overs for 24 runs) and Brundish (8 overs for 22 runs) who applied the pressure early on.

With the bat; Skipper Baines, Avrilli and Cartledge put on a decent platform of 50 runs, but a flurry of wickets in the middle order brought Brundish in when the score was 74 for 5 after 22 overs, with the crows looking a long way away from their 174 target. They needn't have worried, as Brundish smashed a sublime 59 not out, ably supported by Emes(19)to win the game with 2 overs to spare, and leave Woodcote bewildered.

Skipper Baines, speaking to the waiting reporters after the game was full of praise for his young bowlers, "The youngsters were superb out there, Emes took the key wickets of both openers, while Taylor got Brouard when he looked well on his way to a ton. They made things very easy for me as captain, and gave us oldies an easy day in the field."
He continued to gush with praise when asked about the match winning knock from Brundish, "That's what I put him down at 7 to do, hold the innings together and bring us home for the win, and that's exactly what he did. There's a reason he's leading the Sunday batting averages by a mile. The boy is class."

Full time skipper, Mackenzie, returns next week but will struggle to live up to the levels of this performance by his young stand in, who's quieter style brought the best out of his team.
