Match report On a damp and drizzly day, the skipper won the toss and went in to bat. Shaw exploded from the off with a quickfire 36. O'Loughlin nurdled and accumulated as partners came and went before Luke Taylor decided to hang around. With the skipper inexplicably bowled around his legs for 73, there were nerves on the boundary that we might not see the overs out. But cometh the moment and cometh the men with Mike Storey and Luke putting on 50 for the 7th wicket. Nathan Nile came in for a ding dong at the end and 227 looked a creditable total. A super opening spell from Brundish and Golding left it tightly poised and slowly the runs started to tick away. Everyone picked up a wicket but it was slipping away. Time for the skipper. Double wicket maiden. 8 down with 4 runs required, he was mentally setting the field for his next over when the batsman found a gap in the field, between his legs, and the game was lost. A super spirited game with lots of batsmen walking when they edged behind and the umpires not called on to make a single dismissal. Tea was a worldie with a smorgasbord of baked goods and artistically arranged fruit for an independently scored 9/10.
