A gloomy day dawned over Crowthorne but the skippers faith in his trusty weather app was well founded with a cracking afternoon. Sent in to field, Miller and Barrymore launched the attack with venom and a miserly run rate. With all the decent bowlers gone, it was left to Azza, 'LL cool A' (to himself), to send the batsmen on their way including a small child. Some disgusting filth from the other end ended the innings with 164 on the board.
As Barrymore and Shaw set to the task of bedding in for the afternoon, Azza set about a different type of bedding in with the oppo fan club, average age a sprightly 76, offering to make cups of tea and attending to their every need. First class hosting.
Shaw bludgeoned and soon reached 50 and the runs required dwindled as did his time available. The captain determined to plod relentlessly to the total gave a lesson in stealing the strike and just when the match was won, the aforementioned child returned to rip one from outside off and take the edge to send Shaw on his way for a cultured 77. No more dramas and we cruised home with just 4 wkts down. Top oppo and a nice drink afterwards in the bar down at St sebs.
