Match report In very sunny and humid conditions Crowthorne and Crown Wood U13s took on a strong Wokingham Red Oaks U13s side at the Surelock McGill Oval at Wokingham Cricket Club.

Wokingham Red Oaks won the toss and decided to field first. In the Crows U13s team a late withdrawal opened up a space for a late recruit Matt Wilson who would go on to have a game not to forget for the club!

We faced some very strong bowling in the opening stages from Matthew McDonald who tore through the upper order at the start of the game. However some great batting for our last minute call up Matt Wilson turned the tide of the match. Matty went on to score 47 not out after initially retiring on 30. his innings included eight fours and he was probably only a few balls away from scoring his first 50!

Ethan Treharne was very brave in going back out to bat after being hit on the fingers and after all this went on to score a solid 4 not out off 6 balls. He was a good batting partner for Matt Wilson as he chased his 50.

85-9 was a great recovery considering the high quality bowling we faced from Wokingham at the start and end of the game!

Oliver Taylor was again the hero wicket taker proving age is no barrier as he continues to get people out five years his senior! Captain Christopher Emes also had a solid start in his first match as a wicket keeper for the club.

We ended up loosing the game by nine wickets as Wokingham chased down 85 after 15 overs, but the Red Oaks were behind the run rate after ten overs. Overall, we are now giving away fewer extras and bowling much more accurately, however Wokingham are still a quality side and show us the catching up we need to achieve!
