Match report All square last ball thriller in Shinfield.

Crows won the toss and elected to field on a snooker table green wicket.

Tight bowling and sharp fielding left Shinfield 37 for 5 after 20 overs. Monty returning 10-6-22-1 and Pete Clarke bowling brilliantly to finish with 10-4-14-4.

Despite JC chipping away 3 wickets at one end , Shinfield mounted a recovery with Koti making a well hit 73. After a tight last over, including a fantastic one-handed catch by JC to give the skipper his first wicket of the season, Shinfield had reached 177 for 9 off 45.

While the skipper took a temporary break from cricket, crows strode out to chase victory.

After a slow start, and regular wicket loss, crows were 55 for 4 , including a quickfire 22 from Joe Birkett. In strode Pete Clarke to join Monty at the crease. There followed a 74 run partnership that got crows back into the match, with Pete dispatching anything he could to the boundary with his trusty railway sleeper.

Pete finally departed for a well made 62 , leaving crows 27 to win off 9 overs. Wickets started to fall and tight bowling left 17 needed off 4. A quick fire 10 from JC left Jimmy and the returned skipper to get 7 for victory of the last over. 3 dot balls followed, victory looked ot be slipping away. Then two straight drives brought the skipper 6 runs in 2, One needed for victory off the last ball. Skipper jams it into the leg side, call confusion, near run out, no run taken. Match tied , both teams 177 for 9.

Great all round performance from Pete Clark, easy man of the match award.
