Match report LONG CLAIMS SOME SORT OF RECORD AS CROWS CRASH TO SHINFIELD

Aran Long is claiming a club record after taking his 453rd wicket for Crowthorne and Crowthorne & Crown Wood cricket clubs, surpassing Alan Brown's mark of 452.

Questions remain over the validity of the record though, as the historical Crown Wood tallys have yet to be verified. Meanwhile, Andy Baines is laying claim to the record with his haul of 36 for the new combined club, insisting all records started started afresh with the merger.

Aside from the Aran Long sideshow, Shinfield batted first and got off to a flyer before being pegged back in the second half of the innings by some spirited Crows bowling. Shinfield ended on 216 all out thanks to the 3 wickets from Long, 4 from Bainsey and a couple from Sheppard. Kieran Golding also deserves a mention for an excellent spell which somehow ended with no wickets.

Crow batting was not as noteworthy. Tom Nash made an excellent 56 but saw regular wickets fall at the other end to leave Crows way short on 117 all out.
