Crowthorne & Crown Wood Cricket Club Won by 56 runs

Match report Crowthorne and Crown Wood 2nd XI grabbed their first win of the season at Sandhurst. Losing the toss and put into bat on a damp used pitch, Chris Allwright defied the conditions with his 2nd 50 in as many games before departing for an excellent 72. Jules O' Loughlin and Patrick Golding also added some much needed stability to the batting card with patient knocks of 24 each as Crows set 161.

After a brief pep talk the Crows took to the field in a state of slight puzzlement as to what the captain meant when he warned that 'we won't win this with Hollywood bowling', the opening bowler Jules took this to mean 'bowl at the batsmen's throat' and he proceeded to do this for 12 overs. The Sandhurst fixture stirs something deep with Jules and he tore into the 'Camels' line-up like a man possessed, leaving him with 2 wickets and the batsmen with countless bruises and very few runs. At the other end Sin bowled a more conventional line and length and captured 2 victims along with his usual miserly runs against.

Terry Charles gained extravagant movement off the pitch to gain 3 wickets for just 9, and with runs to play with thanks to the efforts of the seamers the wicket machine Andy Baines was able to wrap up the innings with 3 victims of his own.

Credit must go to the field as well as the bowlers. Patrick Golding took 2 fantastic catches including a diving one hander onto the astroturf strip deserving of it's American football spike celebration. Suraj and Jules took proper sky-ers from out of the low clouds, the skipper took a one-hander at slip deflected off the keeper, Bainesey snatched one hard and low at mid-on and Monty showed he has some of the safest hands at the club with another grab in the covers.
