Match report Colonel and Crook Carry Crows to Crushing Conquest

The Crows beat Ruislip by 4 wickets to move top of the league and move one step closer to promotion.
Choosing to bat first, Ruislip made a solid start to their innings with 116-1. Opening bowlers Jeff and Judeth bowled well but wickets were not forthcoming. Barrymore and Nirav got the break through by dismissing both set batsman and this lead to the Ruislip collapse. Arshad and Crook took full advantage and got 3 and 4 wickets respectively to bowl out Ruislip for 176 runs.

After a magnificent tea provided by Mrs Crook, Arshad and 'Sure-thing' Shaw walked out to opener. Shaw's brief knock was entertaining and Shaq typically scored a blistering 48 runs. After a mini collapse which saw Arshad, Outram and Davies walk back to the pavilion it was up to the Cluett brothers to try and settle things down.

Things were looking good for the pair but Jeff got bowled round his leg for 22 and Ruislip had a sniff of a chance. Jules came and went then an unusually determined Barrymore stepped into the crease. With his trusty lieutenant Barrymore, the Colonel finally showed his critics what he was capable of and played a gritty captains innings to steer the Crows to victory.

Surrounded by press after the game, captain Cluett said, ''On paper we didn't have our strongest team, but we played brilliantly and deserved our win. We are now top of the league and it's going to be hard to move us off it.''
