Match report IBIS Mapledurham VS Crowthorne and Crownwood 1st XI 10-5-2014

The newly formed Crowthorne and Crownwood 1st XI turned up at the IBIS sports centre ready and raring to finally get their historic season underway; all apart from Izzy, Azza and Nick, who decided to arrive in their own time. The colonel won his first toss as captain and put Mapledurham into bat.

Starting with only 8 players, Cluett J and Bracknell's finest, Ravi, opened the bowling. The pair kept things very tight despite the vast gaps in the field and were unlucky not to take wickets. Soon the two boys from Slough turned up and eventually AJ Outram showed his face but he annoyingly brought the rain with him.

Fastforward 1 hour and the Crows were back on again. Jeff and Ravi started where they left off and continued to keep the openers from scoring. Then, the skipper made his first inspiring decision (of surely many to come) by bringing on Nirav and Danny Boy. In his first over, Nirav made history by taking the new team's first ever wicket. Next, Dan took one of his own with a sensational catch in the slips from Azza. Unfortunately the rain came once more and it was back to the pavilion for an early tea.

Somehow, play got underway once more. With his new power, the Colonel chose to bowl and quickly took 2 wickets in 4 balls. But predictably, the rain came again and that was it, match abandoned.

A frustrating day but there was lots of promise on display for the season ahead.
