Match report CROWS SHOW STEEL WITH GRITTY WIN TO SEAL PROMOTION
Crows mathematically sealed promotion to Division One for the first time in the Clubs history with a hard-fought win over 3rd placed Embrook. Richard Barron hit 71 whlst Jeff Cluett hit 45no and took 3 wickets to give Crows the victory needed to seal promotion.

Batting first, Embrook were pegged back by a tight opening spell from Ross Chalmers and Jeff Cluett who both took and early wicket. Opener Matt Dozier was in attacking mood though as he helped himself to a half-century to help Embrook recover from their slow start.

Dozier was well supported by Sabir, who went on to smash 77 with an array of aggressive shots. Jeff Cluett was the pick of the Crows attack, with 3 wickets whilst Chalmers ended with 2. Some late hitting from skipper Richard Cole propelled Embrook to a competitive total of 214 and the game was finely balanced.

Crows reply wasn’t helped by losing Ant Cluett for just 8, but in-form Richard Barron was in stoic mood. His 71 set the platform for the other Crows players to bat around him to gradually chip off the required runs. Joe Davies hit a classy 37 whilst Jeff Cluett capped a fine all-round display with a match winning 45 not out to see the Crows to victory and promotion.

Crows Jeff Cluett told The News : This was a really tough game. We really had to battle to come out on top but we showed good determination to chase down a potentially tricky total. We now have 3 games left to secure first place which would be a great achievement for the club.”
