Crowthorne 1st recorded an emphatic win over Grosvenor with Shakeel Arshad scoring his maiden century for the club. Crows amassed 243 all out in only 38 overs with Arshad hitting 17 fours and 3 sixes on his way to 114. In-form Will Avrili hit a quick fire 30 as Crows looked like posting a formidable target. However in the pursuit of quick runs they suffered a late order collapse and eventually were all out with 7 overs to spare. Baba Butt was Grosvenor’s main threat taking 5-35 whilst Mark Bennett picked up 3 victims.

With plenty of overs in hand the total of 242 wasn’t out of reach but Crows utilised the old ball to grab 2 early wickets to leave the visitors reeling. Grosvenor recovered their early losses to see some mid-order stability, but Jeff Cluett (4-21) destroyed hopes of a successful run chase by destroying the lower middle order. The visitors were eventually bowled out for 142, 100 runs shy of their target. The maximum point win strengthens Crows hold at the top of the table as the season moves into it’s 2nd half.

Skipper Mark Knight told The News : “Another hard fought victory where the final score doesn’t tell the whole story. We should have scored more runs but Grosvenor always had a chance of chasing us down with the amount of overs they had. At the half-way point in the season we have to be pleased with our progress but there will be some twists and turns to come I’m sure.”
