Match report CROWS ROMP TO WARFIELD VICTORY.

Crowthorne got back to winning ways with a crushing 132 run win over Warfield. Batting first Crows lost 2 big wickets early on to be 25/2. However a 100-run 3rd wicket stand from Richard Barron and Will Avrili helped the Crows rebuild. Barron scored a run-a-ball 86 whilst the in-form Avrili added 45. Wafield’s Graham Morris was the main threat to Crowthorne with 6-60 but some late order hitting from Jeff Cluett, Ricky McDowell and Dave Shaw saw the Crows post an imposing score of 232-9.

Chasing a large total, Warfield never really looked like troubling the Crows and soon fell way behind the required rate. Ross Chalmers picked up 2 early victims but it was left to spin duo of Ant Cluett and stand-in skipper Dan Partridge to rip the heart out of Warfield’s batting. Left-armer Partridge snared 3 victims but it was off-spinner Cluett who did most of the damage on a wicket suited to slow bowling. Crows suffered a crushing defeat to Embrook 2 weeks ago but were never in danger of losing this time with Warfield ending up 102 all out.

Dan Partridge was pleased with the performance: “This was a good win for us after the disappointment at Embrook. Rich Barron and young Avrili batted superbly to give us a platform for a late onslaught. Then our bowlers really did well. The new ball attack squeezed the runs to enable us slower bowlers to reap the rewards. We have a run of home games coming up now which we hope to build on this result and performance.”
