Match report CROWS FRUSTRATED BY RAIN IN SEASON OPENER

Crowthorne won the toss and elected to bowl on a good looking track, thanks to the newly acquired covers at Yateley CC. The clouds loomed and the prospect of a full days play seemed unlikely.

Monty Miller opened the bowling after an injury hell, and made us wonder how we ever managed without him. He was backed up by Ant Cluett, who took the first wicket, causing the captain to edge it to Rich Hester behind the stumps. Monty then got amongst the wickets, creating an edge that was caught behind with a diving catch. Don Joseph, Mike Cluett and Dan Partridge bowled well in difficult conditions as Covers and Bartlett put on a good partnership. An early season apperance from Colin Ingram was rewarded with a wicket by trapping Bartlett LBW, after bowling well.

The Crows fielded valiantly stopping and chasing down a slippery ball, and really kept the run rate down well. After 28 overs the heavens opened and play was stopped. A tea break was called, and after 40 minutes a pitch/sky inspection was done. The decision was made to abandon play for the day, as the conditions were getting worse. The Crows unbeaten streak continues, if we avoid defeat in the next 2 games it will be a year unbeaten.
