Crowthorne & Crown Wood Cricket Club Crowthorne Sunday XI v BBC Caversham on Sun 20 May 2012 at 1:30
Crowthorne & Crown Wood Cricket Club Won by 6 wickets
Match report
CROWS REMAIN UNBEATEN IN 40 OVER FORMAT WITH 6 WICKET WIN AGAINST BBC CAVERSHAM.
A match against one of the friendliest oppositions on the circuit on a cold gloomy day. Crows won the toss and elected to field on a green moist wicket. The opening batsmen hung around, and it looked like a bit of a dodgy decision to bowl when the first wicket took 23 overs to fall. The breakthrough coming from Saviour. Matt and Don had previously bowled well but without reward. The game started to turn when Pete Clarke grabbed a couple of wickets with his best figures of 2-12, and the game seemed to be turning in favour of the Crows. Up stepped Tim 'Milky' Garrett, as his slow accurate bowling tore through the BBC middle order, giving him figures of 4-31 on his first bowling outing. BBC finished on 160, which was a remarkable fielding display given that we only had 10 men.
The Crows set about the run chase in good fashion, with Ant and Si scoring quickly. There came a bit of a wobble with the loss of the wickets of Ant, just shy of his 50, Matt and Seano. Then Joe and Pete put on an excellent partnership. Pete getting his best batting figures of 40 not out, and Joe scoring the winning runs on the way to his maiden 50 for the club. Superb batting by the pair, and a resounding 6 wicket win for the Crows.
Some great performance, Frenzy was busy in the field, Ant batted and bowled well, as did Joe and Tim took some cracking wickets. Man of the match has to go to glass fingers Pete Clarke, for his excellent all round performance taking his best bowling figures and scoring his best batting figures all in one match. And a massive lump on his shin to boot!
