Match report Crows Sunk by Ascot Brilliance

Lost the toss, they elected to bat first.

A third loss in a row, and not the greatest start to the season. The Sunday Crows were fielding another changed team, 19 different players have played in the 3 games so far, of which 5 have been debutants.

Ascot elected to bat first, and they posted a massive total for the Crows to chase. Most of the runs coming from Thurandu, their number 6 batsman, with support from Muneer and Susanka. This proved to be a total too far for the Crows.

Coming off the back of the first 2 losses, Dave was back as captain for the first home game of the season. Though the score doesn't reflect it, Crows continued with great spirit in the field. New boy Brent took 2 catches, and Phil took one as keeper. Unfortunately, Phil's nickname as Sicknote in other sports came to haunt him for the second game this season. Unfortunetly, suffering from a migrane he had to depart the field early.

Great bowling from Colin and Nick, taking 2 wickets a piece, lead the attack.

With a massive target to chase, it was never going to be easy for the Crows, and it was immediately made harder with the dismissal of debutant Brent and H early in the innings. Debutant Brent being shoved in to open in his first match proved to be the wrong decision.

In cam Dave and Nick, who put on a good partnership to steady the ship and raise Crows hopes. But unfortunately with a total of 50 runs between them they dismissed, and Crows started to fall regularly. Only the Clarke brothers and Colin subsequently made double figures, and the Sunday Crows were bowled out for the first time this season.

Still, good spirit showed in the team considering the Ascot onslaught.
