Match report
CROWN JULES SHINES AND HAT-TRICK INGRAM SPINS IN SUPER SUNDAY
Crows won the toss and elected to bat on a glorious sunny afternoon. The Sunday Crows demolished the young pretenders, buoyed with confidence from their 6 a side victory they were promptly put back in their place.
On a banana of a wicket, a foot lower in the middle, which gave Shilts a terrible bad back, the Crows batted first. They put an impressive 293 on the board. Barron and Will Avrili put on a great opening stand, and skipper Dave Shaw added some typically ugly runs! Julian O'Loughlin came in and 4 and batted for hours to get his first 50, which then turned into a century. Great work by Jules. Some further runs were added by Tim Leach and Ant Avrili. DJ carried on his bad luck with the bat, getting bolwed in the most bizarre of circumstances. The most controversial incident came with Shilts bashing some runs like a tail ender should. A quick single was on offer, and Shilts was half way down the track. Jimmy Jimmy up the other end was still leaning on his bat and gave a big shout of no, and as Matt Prior was at Lords, Shilts was run out. The cries of Duck avoidance started rumbling on the forum, and it's still only July!
Crown Wood came out to bat, with a run rate of around 7.3 required started thrashing at everything. It wasn't long until catch chances came and Jimmy Jimmy gratefully scooped up 2 catches. The Crown Wood batsmen were clearly suffering in the heat and continued to make some rash decisions, none of them offering much to the score. With the chance of an early supper on the cards, the Kahoona stepped up for a spell. Wickets fell like Didier Drogba in the box. Col completed a superb hattrick, and wrapped it up to get figures of 5-15. All in all, a great days work by the Crows.
