Crowthorne & Crown Wood Cricket Club Crowthorne Sunday XI v BBC Caversham on Sun 22 May 2011 at 1:30
Crowthorne & Crown Wood Cricket Club Won by 2 wickets

Match report The clouds loomed and rain showers came down, but a full game was managed in glorious sunshine at the New Ground. Rich 'Shilts' Hester took the healm as captain for the first time, and promptly had his first defeat at the toss. BBC Caversham elected to bat, and it looked to be a poor decision to start with. John Cole opened the bowling, and with a tempter on the first ball down the leg side an edge was tickeled into the gloves of the waiting Shilts. Sam Roffey followed up with a wicket in the next over taking out the top of off stump. Cole then cleaned up the next 2 batsmen with a good caught and bolwed chance, and Phil Brown took a smart catch at cover to make it 14-4. Up stepped the traitorous Colin 'Kahoona' Ingram, making a guest appearance for 9 man Caversham. He formed a good partnership with Halford despite the tight bowling from the Clarke brothers. Kahoona went on to make 46 before being caught to an acrobatic catch by Cole off the bowling of Phil Brown. Phil then took another wicket with an edge to Shilts to end with figures of 2-14. Brendy 'Frenzy' Mackenzie then bolwed 2 tight overs, rattling the stumps with his last delivery. Pete Clarke came back to finish his overs and took a deserved wicket with another edge to the grateful Shilts. Sam Roffey cleaned up the last wicket, with Mehul 'M' Patel taking a smart catch. The vistitors ended up with 149 all out, a good effort considering the poor start, and there was some great fielding by the Crows.

The batting was opened with the Stent left hand right hand combo, which proved very good as they put on a partnership of 46. Some good runs were added by Pete Clarke and Mehul Patel, who looked useful with both bat and ball on his Sunday Crows debut. When Patel left Crows were 124-4, only needing 26 to win. Quick wickets then fell as Randall took 4 wickets in a row in the 26th over to change the direction of the game, and a Crows collapse looked on the cards. The Calypso Kid stood calmly at the non strikers end watching his team mates depart. What happend next was surely stuff of Crows folklore. John Cole was batting wildly but effectively to keep the bowlers out. Seano then started hitting the boundary and the hopes were raised again. At the start of the 32nd over it was 139-8, 11 needed. Off the next 3 balls Seano hit a memorable 6,4,4 to seal a 2 wicket victory, in what was a great game. A fantastic performance with both bat and ball, and a deserved victory in the end.
