10 July 2011 - Derby Field, Wellington College - 10:30am Start
After a couple of years of near misses with rain and a near hurricane two years ago, the 2010 tournament finally succumbed to the vagaries of the English summer. Hopefully the earlier date will spare us the torrential rain, and make seeing the ball in the final possible.
The 2009 tournament was a great success despite the near arctic conditions, with Nick's Crows winning for the second year in a row. Can they make it a hat trick of wins this year?
Looking to stop the Crow's winning ways are Crown Wood, Thames Valley Ramblers and the Broadmoor Ducks and we welcome the Arcadian Casual this year. Adam has once again assembled some familiar faces for Crowthorne Old Boys - as always it will be great to catch up with them.
We would like to thank our club sponsor Installation Technology, who through their ongoing generous sponsorship has allowed the Crows to massively improve our training facilities with the acquisition of a bowling machine and crazy catch. I'm sure you will notice throughout the day the improvement in our catching!!! (Or not)
Thanks to the generous donations from those who attended in 2009, we raised £200 for the Royal Berkshire Hospital Cancer Trust. As with previous years, the teams will pay a match fee of £80 per team. The food, including barbeque, will be free to your family and friends, so please bring them down for the day. We would appreciate donations for the beer with any profit going to the charity of Adrian's parents choosing.
For the children there will be a bouncy castle as well as other outdoor games throughout the day including the craazzzzy catch!
The format of the tournament will be the same as previous years. There are two divisions of four teams playing each other once. The winners and runners up of each division with play in a semi final, with the winners of those playing in the final.
We will be using two pitches on Derby Field, please ensure all players are there for the 10.30 briefing with the first games starting at 11am.
