CRICKET KIT AMNESTY/DONATION WEEKEND – THIS WEEKEND

Good Morning all,

With the sunshine we’ve had this week, it’s certainly feeling more “Crickety”.  I hope everyone is looking forward to the new season with hope and expectation!

Please see below a plea from the club.  We are particularly interested in 1,2 and 3 this weekend.

Drop off to St Sebs any of the below items you erroneously have or are willing to donate between 10 and 4pm tomorrow or 1 and 4 pm on Sunday. Bats can also be dropped ant Men’s Nets directly to Sam on Sunday.

  1. YOUTH GREEN PLAYING SHIRTS  – following on from a few communications from our Youth coaches, we are still extremely short on returned kits. We are asking for all parents to have a look at home and see if you accidentally still have one from a previous season. It’s really important that we  re-claim and recycle the use of these. The investment in youth shirts was a significant cost to the club and we would like to know exactly how many we have. I would suggest most people would grow out of the shirts they originally were issued so will need an ew size anyway.
  2. OLD CRICKET BATS.  As you may know we have a Memorial Bat Bench at St Sebs which is in need of renovation (replacing all the bats) Sam Mansfield, our resident bat renovator is busily collecting bats that are no longer needed to chop up and add to the bench. There's a bit of urgency as we want the bench finished before the season starts
  3. CLUB OWNED ITEMS. (Practice or Match Balls, Scorebooks, Wicketkeeper gear, first aid etc)  If anyone has any equipment in the bags etc that belongs to the club, please let us know or drop off. No questions asked. We need to get better at retrieving equipment and knowing who has it.  For kit we are using in Winter Training e.g. Nets Balls or First aid kits - just drop me a line with what you have and I’ll add it to our inventory.
  4. YOUTH SIZED CCWCC WHITES (Shirts and trousers.) As our youth teams no longer play in whites, we already have an number of donated sets of kit. I have found a couple of charities that send this kind of stuff to developing countries where they are distributed to youth clubs etc to give kids a nice playing kit.
  5. YOUTH EQUIPMENT – Bats, pads, gloves, bags, spikes etc. (No batting helmets though please) This forms part of our long standing “Pre-loved” kit sale at the club. We take donations of unneeded equipment and offer it to members in exchange for a small donation. The funds from this are invested in practice equipment for the youth section. It’s a great way of parents being able to kit out their children in cost effective gear.
  6. ANYTHING ELSE – The club is interested in any items that might be of use to us at St Sebs that you might want to donate. e.g. Tools, Picture frames, kitchenware, plants, literally anything that you don’t want that might be useful – let me know and I’ll decide whether we can use it.

I will also put out the current stock of Pre-loved kit if anyone wants to pop in and buy anything. We have loads of spikes and gloves at the moment but not many bats of pads

Many thanks in advance for any help with this. If you have stuff but can't make this weekend, please drop me a message (especially items 1,2,3)

Regards,

Dan
