Hi Everyone,
With winter nets just finishing we now move our focus to outdoor nets.
We are again fortunate to have access to the Wellington College nets for the summer.
The first session is tomorrow 16th April and the continue to the end of August, running from 18:30-20:00.
It is important that we are all very conscious that we are there at the schools grace, and not just because we are CCWCC but also from a Safeguarding perspective, we need to make sure that we are demonstrating that we are a responsible and respectful club. Everyone needs to be an ambassador for the club.
Safe-guarding rules means it’s not easy to allow a large group of strangers on the school grounds while college is in session. We will therefore be operating a zero tolerance approach to allowing people to come to nets with regards the following guidelines. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me.
- Please do not arrive before 18:25 for a 18:30 start and leave at 20:00 promptly.
- Please park in the parking area behind the sports centre (First right after you enter the school gates). Please DO NOT park on the grass up by the nets.
- Be respectful of the students and should you feel that they may have put themselves in harms way or e.g. they are behind the bowlers arm, please ask them politely to move. One student, of any age, getting hit could jeopardise our use of the nets.
- Please do not chat with the students. If someone in authority saw this it could create concerns with regards the students interacting with !!STRANGERS!!
- We must stick to our own ‘space’ so should people wish to do fielding practice please use the space between the top and bottom nets. Please also avoid balls heading towards the path and any damage to the grass.
On other points to note:
- Please wear club kit where at all possible, it looks smart but also importantly distinguishes us from any other ‘stranger’ that may enter the grounds
- Toilets and first aid can be found in the sports centre
- Please bring your own water
Thank you for reading and thank you in advance for following the guidelines above. It’s really important if we are to keep having access to such a great facility.
I really hope that you have a great summer of cricket, thanks again,
Nick Outram
Chairman CCWCC
