CLUB DAY 2017 - Thank you to everyone!
Dear all,
Just a quick thank you note after the Club Day which was held yesterday.
Despite us needing to move the date to one that clashed with the school holidays, the event was well attended and we are pleased with all the support we received.
The Treasurer has informed me that we made approx. £600 profit for the club yesterday, which is great news!
A few Thank You’s - (as ever I’m bound to have forgotten someone in the haze of it all so I’m not name-checking everyone!)
Firstly to Jules – despite moving house today, you did a sterling effort to leave your wife to sort the move whilst you orchestrated the club day. Not sure how much that will cost you in the long run! These events need lots of planning and coordination and Jules foolishly volunteered a few years ago and is now lumbered.
Thanks to all the helpers who ran the bar, did the cooking, lent us a BBQ, lend us BBQ Gas at short notice, tidied up, cleaned up, organised the cake stall… the list goes on….
There were several donations of Bar Stock as well as food and other bits which all really help the club greatly.
Thanks to DJCJ, the umpires, the scorers, the commentators, the photographer, all the players and supporters, anyone who spent money at the Bar.
Also Special thanks go to the Youth players who stepped in at the last minute to fill some of the spaces in the teams and all those who came along for the Club Photos.
It was also great to see some Legends for the 2 pre-merged clubs coming along. Sean Brundish, Alan Brown, Adam Elrick - 3 of the all-time greats!
Everything contributed to making it a great day for the club.
Well done to Chris Emes’ Team who duly won the much-coveted “Adrian Chatters Trophy” by conquering Ben Williams’ Team in the 6-a-side Final. This tournament is a big part of the history of Crowthorne CC and I’m so pleased it has gone from strength to strength since the merger. Adrian would be so pleased that we have continued his legacy over 10 years since he passed.
Next year we will aim to expand this day into a whole day that fully involves all the youth groups and parents as well. As ever resources are scarce when it comes to organising these events so please shout if it’s the sort of thing you’d like to get involved in.
This club is making great progress and will continue to do so if we can get more people involved in such events!
Thanks,
Dan Partridge
