Match report A very cordial non-toss led the stand in skipper Judge to take to the crease with his trusty lieutenant G Timms. A 45 opening partnership saw off the bowling of Traitor Emes and Traitor Chandran and the platform looked set. But both fell in quick succession and Rupes and Nikunj took up the reins. a 77 run partnership later and Rupes scored his biggest score for the merged club and Nikunj a classy 50. James Scott batted well for 11 and Crows posted 168.
Taking to the field with more jumpers than players it was a cold one but Avi and Reece unleashed the heat from both ends and had the batsmen tied down and scoring slowly. A couple of wickets and some Ginger oik came to the crease and started swishing and swiping with some success and we could have been embarrassed. It didn't help much that the fielding appeared to have packed up for the winter and Dave dropped one. Sennan called for one then decided to let it bounce. Nikunj turned down one on the boundary that literally landed on his toes and the skipper was cross. Two of the three jumpers were removed and threats of court action were sent around. The oik fell for 19 and Sunil looked like he was going to bring it home but with the mystery of Ben Williams at one end, it was not going to be easy. The Judge removed Sunil (you have to catch them yourself it seems) and then almost had a wicket with a googly only for Nikunj to shell a dolly. Another name on the charge sheet. What followed was an aberration of cricket with two of the filthiest bowls the judge has ever bowled, but the score book says a wicket and a four and so no more discussion required. Cometh the moment, cometh James scott and a couple of overs of mystery from both ends left the batsmen praying for something they recognised as a straight ball. The runs flowed and the last few overs were largely forgettable. Some good sportsmanship with letting everyone have a bat and we lost in good spirits having had a good game. Farewell 2020. You've been emotional.
