Crowthorne & Crown Wood Cricket Club Won By 3 runs

Match report CROWTHORNE PROVE RG45 IS BETTER THAN RG40 WITH CLOSE ST SEBS WIN

Rapidly reinstated after his shock resignation. Judge Jules lost the toss and resisted the urge to tell their skipper "would've batted anyway". Judge and George looked to improve on their opening stand of 1 last week and immediately got into the runs with some short pitched rubbish and a fast outfield providing the buffet that would normally be served at the interval. Runs flowed and the hundred partnership looked like a strong platform for a big score. George out for a well made 35 and Dan Manning, having been sat still for much of the last hour made his way to the crease. Then chaos. The Judge knocked it into the leg side, shot down the other end and Dan unfortunately was a yard short at the other end. No doubt it will be the Judge himself answering to himself in next week's kangaroo court. A late call? A foolish run? Or was it Not backing up? Not warming up properly?
DC, literally on deaths door after an all night bender, got a few more after the judge fell for 84 and crows set 180 which probably was about par.

Pete and Luke opened up with a great spell each, followed by the experienced Azza and the eager Ben at the other end and the game was tightly poised, with them needing 6 an over with 4 wickets left. The tennis court end was sorted with azza, Luke and Pete finishing their allocations whilst at the pavilion end there was a more varied attack. James Scott launched some grenades, the judge snuck in an over or two of darts but with their skipper set and swinging freely it needed something a little special. Enter the young Jack Smith and some accurate bowling and a wicket to boot and this was going to the wire. Sentence was passed on their skipper with an over to go and Jack started the final over with just nine runs to play with, one wicket to take and the pressure of the crowd on his shoulders. But mighty strong shoulders they are and with some good Fielding and accurate bowling the crows snuck home by 3 runs. Great stuff all round and last week's debacle well and truly forgotten.
