Crowthorne & Crown Wood Cricket Club Sunday XI v Salix on Sun 17 May 2015 at 1:30 pm
Crowthorne & Crown Wood Cricket Club Won by 142 runs

Match report Sunday skipper silences nay-sayers, and swashbuckling Sykes puts SalixC.C to the sword, smashing swift century, as Sunday Crows stop sequence of losses at St Sebastians.

Alex sykes made his first sunday century as the sunday crows beat Salix CC in an emphatic victory, as under fire captain Mackenzie won his first game of the season to silence the doubters.

Crows won the toss and Mackenzie confidently elected to bat.
Barrymore and new opener Baines strode to the crease and set about the bowling from the off with the score racing to 47 before Allwright succumbed for 14. Salix celebrations were shortlived as the wicket only Brought Sykes to the crease, and after taking an over to settle in, he began smashing to ball to all four corners of St Sebastians with a succession of 4s and 6s, losing a boxfull of balls in the surrounding countryside and racing to 100 in around 15 overs and retiring. Baines, who had played the perfect foil reached his half century and eventually went for 62, leaving Davies (63) to hold the rest of the innings together. Crows finished on a massive 290 for 5 and Salix CC trudged back to the pavilion, knowing they were up against it.
Their skipper padmore(46) played well at one end, but a succession of partners came and went at the other end, and when Allwright took the key wicket with an incredible fingertip caught and bowled, it was only a matter of time. Miller Manning and Billy 'the kid' coles were the pick of the bowling and when the skipper took the last wicket Salix were all out for 148 and soundly beaten.

A bullish Mackenzie spoke to reporters after the game,"The result was never in doubt, and from the off the lads did everything asked of them, Sykes played superbly, and Baines looked like a natural opener out there. It was good to have Davies Back for a game, we have missed his quality. I was really please with how we bowled. we didn't give them an inch, when it would have been easy to be complacent with such a big total to defend. Its a long hard season but if we go into the coming games with the same attitude we will win plenty more."
When asked about the recent criticism of his captaincy, Mackenzie fought back, saying "I never doubted myself for a second, a win of this magnitude was always around the corner, and its one in the eye for my detractors, it was the perfect performance."
