Match report Crows Snatch end of season victory

Bradfield won the toss and elected to field on a pudding wicket in overcast conditions

Crows skipper departed early, and then watching paint dry became more interesting than the scoring. Only 21 on the board after 18 overs.

Andrew Baines strode to the wicket and proceeded to compile an excellent 49 before falling to a slightly suspicious LBW. With excellent support from Jason (14) and Matty Wilson (10) the score went up to a more respectable 93 for 5 off 34.3 overs. Then the all rounders of Long, Taylor and Miller all contributed to push the score up to 123 all out.

After a great teas, crows took to the field to tr and defend the small total.

Excellent opening bowling partnership of Long (10-1-33-2) and Miller (10-3-31-1), both unlucky not to take more wickets, left Bradfield 65 for 3 off 20 overs.

The skipper then turned to the spin twins, Cartledge (10-3-20-3) and Baines (10-3-23-3). Both, again,bowled excellently taking wickets and conceding very few runs.

So 40 overs gone , Bradfield 108 for 9 , 15 to win off 5 overs, crows need 1 wicket for victory. Mikey Storey seemed to forget his bowling skills, Bradfield moving to 115 for 9 after the 41st.

Skipper has to bring his knackered self on at the other end. Smack, long hop dispatched. Full toss got away with next. Then a miracle ball, edge, catch pouched by Azza at slip. Game won.

Fantastic fielding performance from everyone had ensured an unlikely victory
