Hartley Wintney v Crowthorne & Crown Wood Cricket Club Sunday 1st XI on Sun 13 Sep 2015 at 1:00 pm
Crowthorne & Crown Wood Cricket Club Won by 6 wickets

Match report Sunday skipper signs off in style and seals smashing success himself.

Mackenzie won the toss and elected to bowl.

Kieran and Barrymore opened the bowling, and both bowled very well. Allwright was unlucky not to take wickets, with several chances being missed. Kieran finally made the break through, bringing a young Rudd to the crease & He and Boston put on 50 for the second wicket, with Rudd going on to a fine 50 himself. Patrick and Sheppard strangled the run rate, and then the spinners came to the rescue again, as the score went from 130 for 2 to 151 all out, with Baines taking four, Partridge 2, and a very young Luke Taylor bowling an incredible spell of 3 overs, 3 maidens, 1 wicket for no runs. when Williams brought things to a close with a juggled catch to Partridge at slip, the home side were 151 all out from 39 overs.

The tea of the season followed, and then the Crows started their innings.

Sheppard went for a duck and the skipper looked worried, but he needn't have been. Northall and Allwright took the score to 80 off 14 overs, and when Northall went for 34, Barrymore only pushed harder, smashing a series of sumptuous sixes and racing to 75 before being caught leg before. Mackenzie and Patrick knocked the remaining runs off in short order, including a huge six from Golding, to seal a brilliant win, and bring Mackenzie's sunday season to a close with a bang.

Speaking to the gathered reporters after the game Mackenzie was full of praise for his teammates, "the lads played really well today," he enthused " Allwright played the kind of innings we know he can, and Baines bowled fantastically, deservedly taking 4 wickets, including his 50th of the season, and 100th ever for the club, which he has done in only two seasons. It seems fitting that today's figures look to have secured him the sunday bowling award in the process, its very well deserved."
He saved his highest praise however, for an 11 year old Luke Taylor, on debut. " The boy stepped in at the last minute and didn't look out of place at all, he bowled a quite brilliant spell, took his first wicket and fielded superbly. I'm sure we will be seeing much more from him over the coming years. Also thanks to Paul Crawford who came out of a 25-year retirement to play his part in the field, too."
