Match report C&C demolish tug of war champions

On a sunny day in the tug of war capital of Berkshire an old duel that had been simmering away for some time was once again reignited. If we thought Sandhurst and Crowthorne had history, it's nothing compared to Sandhurst and Crown Wood. It's as if England and Holland decided they were now 1 nation, and then promptly arranged a football match against Germany.

The Crows skipper made a good assessment of the pitch, and decided it was probably a low scorer (jungle like grass in the outfield is normally a good clue). He won the toss and decided to bowl, wanting to know what the chase was. The Crows started brilliantly, bowling tight lines and giving away little. The effort nearly caused the Sinner Man to faint in the heat. Dan got the breakthrough, with a good catch from Barron at Long Off. Panesar came in at 4 and looked fairly settled, but eventually went for 22 spooning one up which RP Hester snaffled. Nothing else was really offered in the batting department, bainsey took an excellent 5 for, and was backed up well by the fielders taking really good catches. Even Micky and Seano got in on the action, bowling some death overs which were very tidy. It ended 97-9 off 47 Overs.

Tea was sampled, and a solid 7.5 with nice scones and a potential MILF sighted.

The Crows came out to bat knowing that 98 was a straightforward enough target, but a potential banana skin. Barron and Tham made it look too easy though, taking us to our target without any real scares*
* Barron was in fact dropped 6 times, but the book doesn't say that.
Barrymore was padded the entire time, as was Luke who had fallen asleep on a sofa at the edge of the boundary. At least most people had a bowl.

When interviewed by BBC TMS skipper RP Hester said: 'I'm just delighted, this victory showed what strength in depth we have as a squad. To lose 3 key traitors, I mean players, a few days before this fixture and to still come out and win so emphatically is great. I think we have a healthy rivalry with Sandhurst, but it's not good to see them in such poor shape. I'm really worried about them now and their future as a club, if we turned them over so easily I dread to think what the Lashings boys are going to do to them in a few weeks time. I did hear rumours of a buyout by the local tug of war society, I just hope for them that it comes off and they get that cash injection they need'.
