Bagshot v Crowthorne & Crown Wood Cricket Club Sunday 1st XI on Sun 11 May 2014 at 2 pm
Crowthorne & Crown Wood Cricket Club Won by 7 wickets

Match report Sunday Crows keep up winning streak.

First came the hammering in Hampshire, this time it was the surrender in Surrey for hosts Bagshot CC as Sunday Crows won by a crushing 7 wickets.

Bagshot won the toss, and the skipper (eventually) decided to bat first (mainly because one of their players was a Man City fan). They started slowly but accumulated runs, going at around 3.5 an over. Sinith (The Sinner Man) Chandran was bowling really well and deservedly got the breakthrough with a quality delivery that nipped back. The Bagshot batsmen were looking settled, but not accelerating away. The breakthrough came at drinks when at drinks G Young retired hurt(to watch Man City), but we all knew that Bo had roughed him up too much. The floodgates then started to open, as Baines started tearing through the middle and lower order. There was a cracking catch by The Sinner Man, running back towards the boundary taking one over his head. The Colonel was bowling really tightly at one end, taking 9-4-15-1. Bainesey finished up with 9.2-3-21-5. The Frenzy had a devastating spell, taking their top scorer with a worldy (catch) by Saviour. Crows needed 161 for victory!

Tea was sampled, but no one started writing home. The sandwiches being laid out before the game began put most people off. Brendy will document this in the forum.

The Crows started batting with a bit of a wobble, Micky going for a duck after 2 balls. Saviour and the Colonel then put on a partnership of 126 with some quality stroke play. Micky was much disgruntled by this, and went out to umpire, determined to see the Colonel off before getting his milestone. However both Saviour and the Colonel got to 50. The Colonel teed off, but was caught in some (family) bucket hands at long on. In came Huelin, determined to make his mark after the goldy the week before. He discovered before his innings that he actually bats better left handed! It was looking so good for the first few balls, then the ball hit the pads, up they went. The Sinner Man raised his finger, for Tom, the chase was over. (Matt) Allwright came in and slapped it about a bit, and he and Saviour saw the Crows home for a comfortable victory by 7 wickets.

Interviewed on BBC 5 Live after the match, skipper Hester said: 'This was another great team performance. This match was won in the first innings, we kept it tight and restricted the run rate massively. BBC Caversham next, we'll definitely be playing a 40 over match and will be playing to win'.

'Young Bainesey was excellent, he certainly made his mark today and I can see big things for him at this club in the future'.

'Tommy is an excellent player, form is temporary, but class is permanent. I'm confident he'll bounce straight back next week and he's working hard in the nets to make it happen'
