Match report Crows narrowly lose out to Arcadian Casuals.

Finally a beautiful day to play some cricket. Casuals won the toss and chose to bat on a typically good New Ground Track, and posted a handy score of 194 fro mtheri 40 overs. The bowling attack was missing some seam this week, so part time bowler and skipper Shilts opened the bowling with Tim Leach. Leach bowled well and got 3-37, his best figures in a Crows shirt, with 3 good catches from Aniket behind the pegs. Shilts ended up with 1-23, dismissing the skipper cheaply with a plum LBW. Mr Rape and Mr Bison put on a good partnership, but the run rate was low. Col, Ant and Dan bowled well, both Dan and Ant picking up a couple of wickets. The batsmen didn't allow Tim Garrett to settle, who bowled well but got picked off by the Fugitive on the charge! The Crows fielded well to keep the Casuals to below 200 on a good pitch with a strong line up.

Ricky and Aniket put on a good partnership of 53, before Aniket was dismissed on 30. Brendy was looking good, but was out on 16. Ricky batted well for his 22. Danger man Tom Nash was dismissed for just 1, leaving the Crows with a tall order, still needing 110 runs. We fought back well with Tim Leach getting 13, and the tail started to wag with a 23 from Ant Avrili. Dan ended up not out on 23 as the Casuals wrapped it up with a toe breaker on Colin, which meant he moves onto the duck leaderboard.

In all it was a close game, and our batting just came up short. We were on the rate, just ran out of wickets. A great effort, and an enjoyable game played in the right spirit. Let's hope for more weather like this for the rest of the season. Man of the match goes to Dan Partridge for 2 wickets and 23 not out.
