Welcome to
everyone, at the beginning of a new and exciting season. We’d like to start
the cricket year by restating our club culture and values and wishing everyone
a successful and enjoyable season.
Crowthorne and Crown Wood Cricket Club (CCWCC) exists so that people can take pleasure from playing Cricket irrespective of their level of
skill. We value all our members and want to promote a culture of Respect, Involvement
and Enjoyment.
Behaviour and
Conduct, Be respectful
- CCWCC is proud to
be an inclusive Cricket Club and I’m sure that everyone agrees with the
club’s zero tolerance policy towards abusive, discriminatory or prejudiced
language/behaviour in any club activity (on pitch, in clubhouse, on social
media etc.).
- Our Cricket Club
works hard to build a family-friendly atmosphere and everyone can play
their part by considering those around them and being mindful of
displaying appropriate behaviour and language.
- We are lucky that
the vast majority of our members are respectful of their team mates,
officials and visiting players – let’s work together to preserve and
improve that culture. Let’s play to win and enjoy some banter but
let’s keep it within the spirit of cricket. Please follow your
Captain’s lead on where that line should be drawn.
- Do your utmost to
be on time and meet any commitments that you may have made on or off the
pitch. We understand that unforeseen circumstances arise but we ask
that you please inform the Captain or appropriate person as soon as
possible.
- Take pride in
your Club and respect the game of cricket. Come to matches prepared, with
complete and clean kit, and if possible club branded. Help to keep our
fantastic facilities at St Sebastian’s Clubhouse and the grounds
presentable by helping out and tidying up after yourself – don’t just wait
to be asked.
- And last, but not
least, no smoking on the pitch during games please.
Contribute and
get involved
- Many of us
already very much appreciate the huge amount of work that goes on behind
the scenes to run the club and enable us to play cricket each week.
Let’s all get involved and do what we can to help lighten the load for
those who already contribute so much to make our club better – many hands
make light work.
- Speak to a
committee member or Captain and get involved – examples of ways to
help include:
- At the very
least, we should all be able to support our club by ensuring the following
things:
- We are committed
to selecting players for appropriate teams based on their roles, abilities
and form. However, at the Captains’ discretion, we reserve the right
to preferentially select players also based on the values described above.
For example, players may find themselves not selected or selected
for a different team if they fail to fulfil their financial (e.g. 2 weeks
of outstanding match fees, unpaid annual subs) or cultural commitments to
our club.
Enjoy!
We want
everyone at CCWCC to first and foremost enjoy cricket and to feel they are part
of a successful, growing and caring Club.
Thank you! and we hope that you all have a great season.
